Instituted on 3 August 1866 by Queen Isabella III. 1889 1931 Issue. Red Distinction. An eight point silver gilt star comprising multiple faceted rays, centre obverse presenting a red enamelled Latin cross surmounted by a red enamelled Spanish Royal crown, with a superimposed anchor centered on the cross, centre reverse presents dual stays and a principle pin assembly, maker marked with cartouche of A. RAMENTOL HABANA OREILLY
