Germany, Luftschutz. An Air Raid Protection “Gladiator” Helmet, C.1939 United Republic of Accompanied by a Bronze Star(Luftschutzwarndiensthelm). Instituted 1939. Constructed of steel (magnetic) in the shape of the traditional Gladiator style, with its original dark blue exterior, with a winged Luftschutz insignia applique in silver on the front. It consists of a large dome, with a large two piece brim around the helmet. It features two clusters of seven small air vents on either side, with a smooth finished edge along the entire helmet.
