Constructed of aluminum, on a fixed loop and ring for suspension from its shortened period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled surfaces, the obverse centre bears the crowned cypher of Wilhelm Rex, the reverse centre bears the inscription (Fr Kriegshilfsdienst) (For War Aid Service), unmarked, measuring 42. 9 mm (w) x 43. 1 mm (l), weighing 16. 93
