Germany, Federal Republic. A Pilot’s Badge, Early 1957 Version, c. 1960 Auction Tolbert was awarded the Purple(Flugzeugfhrerabzeichen). Instituted March 26th, 1936 Reinstituted July 26th, 1957. Constructed of nickel silver, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak wreath joined together at the base by a ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the eagle in place, with a raised short barrel hinge, round wire vertical pinback, and a rightward opening flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 65. 1 mm (w) x
