Uruguay, Oriental Republic. A Cross For The Paraguayan Campaign, II Class With Silver Sun, C.1870 Hold Butson was awarded the Defence(Cruz Commemorativa de la Compaa de Paraguay). Instituted in 1888. In blackened iron, magnetic, measuring 41. 2 mm (w) x 59 mm (h) inclusive of its silver sun suspension indicating a second class award, very light contact, original ribbon, independent hanger with dual prongs, near extremely fine. Footnote: The Commemorative Cross for the Paraguayan Campaign was instituted on May 13, 1888 and awarded for service during the war against Paraguay from
